Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle

Burn The Fat, Feed the Muscle by Tom Venuto

Overall Rating: :-)

Tom is regarded by those who know as the most knowledgeable on the subject of healthy body building. Yet, you need not fear becoming a muscle bound model, either (unless you want to be). The whole point of his 300+ page book is that when you build muscle, you burn fat.

You will find that people who lose weight will come to grips with the fact that a sensible weight loss plan is only the beginning of a new lifestyle, not a temporary side trip.

Tom discusses your new lifestyle starting with deep down rethinking of why you want/need to lose weight, how to set the right kind of goals, learn about how your body works and why you are fat, provides solid eating advice.

Only negatives:  His plan severely cuts out fats - all fats - which I believe is unwarranted. Cut calories somewhere else but do eat good fats.  Also, he likes to bash egg whites.  Eggs come packaged yellow and white. Together they provide good fats, good protein, etc.  Whole eggs are good food! Read more about them in Nourishing Traditions .

Other than that his eating advice is sound: 5 - 6 smaller meals per day, eat breatfast, as natural as is practical, smaller portions, etc…

Of course his exercise advice is par excellence! While most of us don’t aim at rippling, bulging physiques, we could do with building lean body mass (muscles).

You will not find a better, more thorough, book on the subject. Read more here
